Good afternoon. Well I'd just like to announce that I'm currently working on a picture-laden strategy guide for Destiny of an Emperor and a page for info on the real Yuan Shu. The guide should be a few weeks, the other page sooner. Other random things are being considered and if there are suggestions they will be considered also. Enjoy

Well if you need help with the Yuan Shu information I can assist. I found a bunch of pictures from various places of him and made a biography and page for the guy but have since taken that offline. Yuan Shu's my favorite character in the novel and my favorite lord. I rarely see any other Yuan Shu fans and that's why I joined. ;D It's kind of hard to decipher fact and pure biased-against fiction with Yuan Shu.

It is nice to see someone else who spreads the word of the Lord.
I am in the middle of a biography of him, but I am indeed lacking pictures. I'll try to get a bunch of them up there so if you want to send some they'll definitely be up with your credit, all in due time. And yes, Yuan Shu's name is slandered often throughout the novel and it is unforutate. If only fate were a bit kinder to the Lord.

The lord eh? Well here's a page of Yuan Shu I completed awhile ago with pictures and information. It's based more on Yuan Shu's historical life with notes under the images on the side containing information of his novel character or the way he's portrayed in other sources, stereotypes and where each image comes from. You're free to copy anything you want on there! All the pictures are hosted but I found them from a multitude of places. Oh yeah and your guide for Destiny of an Emperor II is really helpful. Whenever I've been stuck I've used it and it's allowed me to get past any obstacle every time. I downloaded it and am playing the game now. Actually though the thing about fighting Xiahou Dun without the tally mark is not impossible, just hard...and the battle will be really long. I only check your guide when I'm absolutely stuck and I wasn't then, so I attacked Xiangyang and beat Xiahou Dun, by Liu Muing him to death with Zhuge Liang and occassionally Zhao Yun and continually attacking. I forgot which formation I used but somehow it gave most of my characters equal defense as Xiahou Dun's force...

Impressive! I'll have to list that on my guide that he is beatable. Yeah I attacked him a few times and noticed his ridiculous defense so I assumed he was unbeatable without the tally. Thanks bud, and yeah I dig your page as well, I'll add some things off there and link to you as well. If you figure out which formation you used (as you notice i dont list formations often, or at all i dont think) let me know

Yep I did today. It was the Yijun formation. I remember it because I had just gotten the array. I don't think I have any more formations now although I might have one or something. Actually something that would be helpful might be a guide on what each tactic and formation does and the advantages of the formations. I still don't know what most of the moves do...and I only figured out today that SuoDi could be used to warp out of caves, already well into the game. I think when I tried a Hengfeng tactic for instance, against the armies of Liu Du, Xing Daorong and Liu Yan, that when the enemy used Baima (I think?) it allowed them to get double moves on me. I quickly switched out of that to Bai Ma just to fight fire with fire and I won although I still kept taking a lot of damage. I guess I was just spaced out after beating the guy in Jingzhou so I didn't understand what he said and went for Dun. I thought, at the time, that he just had the ridiculously high defense because of a special formation . Also you don't have to link to me, because I'm going to take it offline soon. I actually put it off the web awhile ago but put it back on just so you could use it as a reference. Other than that you could try Dr. Rafe de Crispigny's site (Generals of the South and To Establish Peace have info on lord Yuan Shu) and this custom search (replace the Sun Jian in quotes with Yuan Shu or whoever you want to look up from the novel) for information on the historical Yuan Shu or novel Yuan Shu respectively. Kongming.net has a bio on Yuan Shu I think and Empire Divided TK has a Sanguozhi of him.

That's a good idea, regarding the formations. Generally when I go through DoaE2 I just play it straight up and don't mess too much with the formations save for a few experimentations. I should just spend fifteen minutes going through them and seeing which is which (by the way, I think Heng Fang lowers your agility pretty bad so maybe that's why they were fast).
If you did not know of Suo Di I wonder if you know of Yan Dun. That is essentially the item "smoke pot" from Destiny of an Emperor 1, but it is cast for 8 TP instead of purchased. Very useful if you want to get somewhere and stay clean.
Regarding the Xiang Yang fight; so you only hurt him via tactics?
Thanks for those links, that Dr. Rafe de Crispigny has some thorough stuff. I like the maps on there too

I mostly weakened him via tactics although once he got low on troops he wasn't doing nearly as much damage as before. I used the earth tactic mostly which I think was called Liu Mu or something. Can't remember. He had really high defense but was not completely impregnable via physical attacks from what I can recall. When he fell I went all-out on the rest of the army (no generals, all outlaw army I think) and they all died too, although it took awhile. Wow I didn't know about Yan Dun either. Thanks! That's really helpful. I think the double-hitting thing could be a mixture of Heng Fang making you have low agility and maybe Bai Ma raising your speed. I'm not sure if Bai Ma does that but, based on Gongsun's unit, I think it means white horse and therefore I wouldn't be surprised if that was it's effect. I'm just glad they didn't have any officers with bows (or I don't think they did...) or else I would have been in real trouble. 4 hits would have been hell...
